Armada Supercon Prime is an Optimus Prime based on the Transformers:Armada series.
What I got is the Japanese version, they call the series Micron Legend.
Upon getting the box I noticed that this prime is also called STD Convoy. I still don’t know what STD stands for. ^_^;

Here is the picture of the box.
Inside the box are a catalog of other Micron Legend products (Armada), A trading card and an instruction sheet.
All in all the packaging is ok, but I would like to point out that I seldom buy MOC or MISB TFs so I am not in an position to rate the packaging.
Review
I will review Armada Supercon Prime in three categories:
- Sculpt (Form and Color)
- Articulation (Moveable Parts and how can it be moved)
- Fun Factor (How did I enjoy it)
Sculpt
Vehicle Mode
![[image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v22/Alex_Chrono/RW_STDCONVOY/STD_Convoy_2.jpg)
The vehicle mode of STD Convoy is quite simple. Its a truck that looks the same as the Superbase Armada Prime (Will be shown later.) That prime is also called SL Convoy, IIRC. (To make it clear I will refer to the Prime being reviewed as STD Convoy)
The vehicle mode of STD Convoy is ok in the sense that it isn’t really the best but at the same time its not bad looking either.
While in truck mode, it measures around 5.5″ inches long and around 2.5″ tall.
The STD Convoy I also had blackened chrome grills on the front which made this Prime look extremely cool.
However, one thing that kinda set me off this Prime is that the windshield is just a silver-colored sticker. I wish they could have mounted a translucent plastic on the windshield just like what they did to Black Convoy or Armada Superbase Prime.
And unlike the Superbase Prime, the STD Convoy does not have a lot of details on it when in Vehicle mode which was kind of a let down.
As an addition I would like to point out that the STD Convoy is quite smaller than the Superbase Prime. This isn’t really an issue, but this may explain the lack of detail of the STD Convoy.

Small it may be but weaker its not. This was the case when some people suggested that STD Convoy could be used to pull the trailer of Superbase Prime.
Indeed, it could be used to pull the Superbase Prime’s trailer but for me it kind of looks ackward. The STD Convoy is quite small to be pulling a trailer that big.

Robot
![[image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v22/Alex_Chrono/RW_STDCONVOY/STD_Convoy_5.jpg)
The vehicle mode may leave the owner of this prime wanting, but transform it into a robot and it makes up for whatever it lacks in vehicle mode.
While in robot form, STD Convoy stands at around 5 inches. But don’t let the size fool you, this thing is big in character.

STD Convoy does not have a Matrix
Compared to the Superbase Prime this prime looks more like the anime. STD Convoy also sports a side skirt and a crotch guard which gives him a Gundam-like feel to him.
The face of this Prime is one of the best looking Prime-faces I’ve seen.
![[image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v22/Alex_Chrono/RW_STDCONVOY/STD_Convoy_10.jpg)
The yellow eyes blend beautifully on the blue face of STD Convoy making the eyes appear as though it glows.
Also, because of the Blackened Grills this Prime looks dark and gritty adding more character to the toy.
However there are some things that kinda seems ackward with this toy. The shoulders sometimes looks positively wide compared to the legs. Granted, this makes STD Convoy look more “Macho” but it kind of makes prime look like a gorilla. (Optimus Primal returns?!) The arms also stretch up to near Prime’s knee (And with the right effort you could make him reach his knees without bending)… Making him more like a gorilla!!
But all in all this when in robot mode this Prime looks great!
Articulation
Here’s where things get interesting. After this part, I bet you will forget all the bad points this prime has.
THIS PRIME IS ONE POSEABLE PRIME. With multiple ball-joint and hinge joints in his body, STD Convoy could be posed in so many different poses. It may not have an upper arm swivel, but the other poseable parts makes up for it.

With Scourge’s sword and Bootleg Laser Prime’s sword
Now for the KICK-Test.
The kick-test will determine if the toy is actually balanced enough to hold a kick pose. And congratulations, STD Convoy, you passed! And it was because of his “gorilla” arms. The thing is the arms, could be used as a counter weight to balance the toy when it does some balance-demanding pose.

Sweet-chin music!
I would also like to point out, Since this Prime is so poseable that when transforming it back to a truck you may notice that the back of the cab is not properly aligned. To fix this you need to make sure that the legs are properly aligned with the back. (This may takes some getting used to)
Fun Factor
This Prime is best suited to be with Basic-size TFs. Since its size is actually a good scale with Basic-Tf figs.
And since its poseable it’ll be a good addition to any dioramas you would like to do with your other TFs.
The gimmick of this Prime however (Rapid-punching prime) is more funny than fun, I actually laughed when I tried the gimmick and I saw him having a seizure or something.
Overall
This is my best looking Prime yet and to top it off its not that big compared to my 1:144 Gundams, making it very suitable for making diorama’s or battle scenes.

If you don’t have one of these, I guess its high time you had one. I already had one, and I’m happy with it.

Hi
I am pretty sure that STD stands for STANDARD.
Good luck on your site!
