HASBRO released in the past a Darth Vader voice changer helmet. The toy was an instant hit, catering to collectors and casual fan’s fantasy of hearing the voice of the Dark Jedi himself.
The Optimus Prime voice changer is made of light weight plastic which is the same material used for medium grade plastic helmets. The helmet is quite detailed with grooves and panels along the toy. There is even the Cybertronian rune markings in it’s faceplate.
The helmet also sports a brownish visor which allows its wearer visibility. The voice changer helmet also has an adjustable belt that can be adjusted to fit any number of head sizes. Inside the helmet is small microphone near the mouth plate and inside the antennae is a built in speaker to allow you to hear “your” voice when speaking through the mic.
There are three buttons on the right side of the helmet, right on the cheek. The two buttons on top activates the helmet and a random phrase by Peter Cullen will be heard from the helmet, the phrases are: “Autobots… Roll Out”, “I am Optimus Prime”, “Megatron is in my sights.”, “We must Protect the All Spark cube.” Pushing the button on the bottom activates the microphone. Now at this point whatever words you say will be automatically picked up by the mic and your voice will be changed to a different tone, it is then projected through the speakers of the helmet, changing your voice to that of a Transformer!
Now, one thing I noticed on the toy itself is it tends to be sensitive to any sound in the area, to the point that it converts the sounds of other people talking. Having conversation with another person while wearing this helmet may affect the voice of the person you are talking with too. You can even hear the speaker project the voice of people around you when you are not wearing the helmet.
The helmet is quite a good toy, very enjoyable and fun to play with. If you like hearing your voice changed to that of Optimus Prime, give this toy a shot. You won’t be disappointed!
