It’s no surprise that a lot of people actually forget that Ironhide is part of the live action movie. This is because there have only been few leaks or public announcements as to who or what Ironhide is on the movie. Kinda sad since he played a very important role in the Generation 1 timeline, as Prime’s good friend and bodyguard.I guess the important thing is, that at least he made it to the movie. Turns out, his spot was supposed to be Arcee’s, but as to why Arcee was pulled out and to why Ironhide was the choice to replace her is still a mystery.

Late last year, a photo of a black GMC Top Kick C4500 4WD Crew Cab was seen along Le Brea and Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles. The said pick-up had an autobot symbol, and was assumed to be Ironhide, probably because everybody knew that Bumblebee is a Camarro, Jazz is a sports car, Ratchet is the hummer, Prime is of course a truck, and that Ironhide is the only autobot left that doesn’t have an alt mode.

Very high probability that this is Ironhide in the transformers film. Sadly no shots of the front, but i did get a good look at it. It appeared to be a heavily modified Sierra 3500 GMC. The front was more altered than the back. Vents on each side of a very angular hood and large, square headlamps made up the front of the vehicle. The rear has large fender and smoke stacks. After researching the transformers movie site, this could be ironhide. He use to be a red, nissan van back in the day. Still pretty cool. The autobot logo only appeared on the tailgate and was embossed into the metal. – (source)
Speculations report that the personalities of the TFs in the movie will be pretty much the same as that of their Generation 1 characters. If this is true, then expect this GMC truck to be old fashioned. These are probably also some of his characteristics: a tough soldier who can make any Transformer bust an o-ring just with his stare, and the weapons specialist forged in the Tri-Peninsular Torus states of Praxus.

Thank goodness for the test shots of the fast action Ironhide toys that surfaced just this month, coz no CGI renders have been released yet as to what Ironhide looks like. Of course, those pics are from the fast action line, meaning the deluxe toys are expected to look better. Also, ever since the official TF movie trailer has been released, there have been debates as to who that bot was that came out of the pool. Speculations say that it has to be an autobot, since there was a little girl in that scene and that she wasn’t harmed. TF fans seem to agree that the said TF is Ironhide, but only time will confirm if it is really him. Although you really have to admit that the toy and the bot in the pool do look alike ![]()
